Cordyline has glossy tropical looking leaves that vary in colors from green to red to black depending on cultivar.  It usually grows upright with one trunk but can grow in clumps as a result in sucking from its enlarged tuber like rhizomes. The foliage is the attention catcher for this plant but it does bloom on rare occurance a light pink cluster of tiny bell-shaped flowers.
