Characteristics: Dwarf cultivar with very large lacecap blooms, this is a big leaf variety which are unique because the flower color is determined by the acidity of the soil, more acidic soil results in blue blooms (pH between 4.5-5.5), more alkaline soil results in pink flowers (pH above 6.5), in New Mexico hydrangeas cannot tolerate full afternoon sun, not drought tolerant, pruning is not necessary unless to remove weak, damaged, or diseased stems, wonderful burgundy-red fall color
