The leaves of this handsome Asian evergreen shrub are gray-green when they first open, and later mature into a dark green or blue-green color. In winter, the leaves may turn a subdued purple-green. The white, slightly fragrant flowers bloom in mid to late April to early May are followed by blue berries. This Indian Hawthorn has a dense rounded habit.
